Samples that pass QC are stored in automated storage equipment for fast retrieval. MLSMR uses a three-tier storage system: Long Term Store, Working Store, and Short Term Store. MLSMR stores and handles all DMSO solutions of the compounds under nitrogen atmosphere to prevent water absorption. We've validated our process minimizes water absorption and haven't observed compound precipitation from the DMSO solutions. Long Term Store (LTS)
MLSMR stores the bulk sample in glass vials.
Long Term Store samples will be held for
five to ten years in a
Nexus BioSystems Universal Store, an
automated sample storage and retrieval system.
Working Store (WS)
MLSMR creates a 10 mM DMSO solution Working
Store sample of each compound to be stored and
used for up to one year. We create the
microtiter plates shipped to the MLPCN from the
Working Store samples. The Working Store samples are stored in polypropylene tubes in SBS 96 well format and can be individually moved to create variable well arrangements or cherry pick sets. When a Working Store sample is depleted, the sample is discarded and a new one is created from the Long Term Store. MLSMR currently stores Working Store samples in a Nexus BioSystems Universal Store US-1500-PT2. Additionally, TekCel TubeStore system is used to store some samples for short term use. Short Term Store (STS)
DMSO solution samples formatted in
microtiter plates and ready for
shipment to MLPCN are held in the Short
Term Store. Short Term Store plates are
typically created just in time and
stored less than one week. But, some
standard collections may be pre-plated and
stored up to three months before shipment.
